Importance of Landscaping and Lawn Maintenance
Landscaping also known as grounds keeping, can be defined as an activity that involves modification of visible features of an area of a particular land. Living elements like flora and fauna (gardening) and natural elements like terrain shapes, elevations, and land forms or water bodies are some of the features. Planting plants with the aim of creating an appealing appearance of a land scape is referred to as gardening. Lightening conditions and weather are abstract elements which are part of the features. Landscape maintenance is the activity of keeping an area clean, safe, attractive and healthy and it is done mostly in institutional settings, parks, gardens, estates and yards.
A groundskeeper can be able to plan all year round to do gardening, planting and harvesting, path and driveway maintenance, snow removal, fertilizing and periodic weeding, lighting, runoff drainage, topiary, swimming pool care, irrigation and other jobs if equipped with the right tools, knowledge, skills, supplies and physical exertion to improve and protect the garden accessories, plants and the topsoil. Groundskeeper should be able to create means or repelling or attracting desired local animals such as insects, birds, reptiles, domestic animals and pets. Gardens can be installed with a koi pond if it is designed to keep exotic animals. Groundskeepers are responsible of providing and maintaining the habitat for wild animals when it comes to larger areas.
Lawn maintenance is also similar to landscaping maintenance, only that it is maintaining an area covered by soil and planted grasses or in some other cases durable plants like clover. Lawn is made up a variety of different kinds of grasses which are looked after in order to maintain their color green and mowed from time to time to maintain a particular uniform level. The type of grass grown and the climate zone affects the establishment and care of seasonal lawns.
Seeding can be done early autumn, early summer and spring but before commencing aerate to allow the turf to be thicker and the roots to go deeper. Some may go for another way called turfing which can provide an instant lawn. Turfing can be done in most climates that are temperate and in any season. For rough lawns people go for animal grazing or mowing the lawn regularly. Lawns may need to be maintained twice a week when it is hot or in rainy seasons in regions that contain hardiness zones.
In order to do construction you will need to do studies and observations because the landscape is not the same on different parts of the world. Same case applies to landscaping or lawn maintenance, if it’s being done for the first time understanding the site is very vital for a successful outcome.
